The Metabolic Middle: Inflammation, Fatigue, and Metabolism for Women 35+
THE METABOLIC MIDDLE: INFLAMMATION, FATIGUE, AND METABOLISM FOR WOMEN 35+
Women in midlife are often told their symptoms are "just part of aging"—but as clinicians, we know better. This course dives into the metabolic shifts that start in the late 30s and accelerate through perimenopause, including inflammation, muscle loss, thyroid changes, and insulin resistance.

Dietitians will learn how to interpret key labs, design food-first protocols that support muscle and energy, and move beyond restrictive, weight-centric models that don't work and often harm. You will leave with the clarity, confidence, and clinical edge you need to support women in midlife—without weight-focused pressure or outdated advice.

"If you work with women in midlife, you need this course in your toolkit."
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify the key hormonal, inflammatory, and metabolic shifts commonly experienced by women ages 35 and up.

  • Interpret relevant lab markers such as CRP, fasting insulin, thyroid hormones, and lipid panels to inform clinical nutrition care.

  • Apply evidence-based nutrition strategies that support muscle retention, energy regulation, and inflammation reduction in midlife women.

  • Utilize client-centered counseling approaches that address body image, shame resilience, and motivation without reinforcing weight-centric messaging.
