FUELING FOCUS: INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION STRATEGIES FOR ADHD AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTION SUPPORT
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is thought to impact millions of adults and children across the nation, with ramifications for overall quality of life including impulsivity that can impact specific eating behaviors. This session will equip nutrition professionals with practical knowledge to effectively support clients with ADHD in achieving better cognitive and nutritional status outcomes across the lifespan. You’ll learn about the interplay between ADHD and eating habits; including an up-to-date review of key nutrients, nutraceuticals and dietary patterns that can positively impact attention and support executive function.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe the role of nutrition in supporting brain function, attention, and executive skills in individuals with ADHD across the lifespan.


  • Identify key nutrients and dietary patterns that have been shown to positively influence focus, mood regulation, and cognitive performance.


  • Explain the gut-brain connection and its relevance to ADHD and executive function.


  • Apply integrative nutrition strategies—including food-based approaches, supplementation considerations, and lifestyle modifications—to support clients with ADHD.

Sarah Thomsen Ferreira, MS, MPH, RD, LD, IFNCP, is an integrative dietitian specializing in nutrition for brain and mental health. She provides personalized nutrition counseling for individuals and offers professional education on the connection between food and mental well-being.

Sarah is the founder of Food and Mood Nutrition Therapy and previously served as the manager of clinical nutrition at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, where she refined her expertise in functional and clinical nutrition.

She is also the creator of the Brain Food Digest and host of The Nourished Brain podcast, where she explores topics such as nutritional psychology, brain health, food and mood, and the practice of intentional eating.
