HISTAMINE INTOLERANCE: FROM SYMPTOMS TO SOLUTIONS
There is a growing awareness of histamine intolerance (HIT) and how it influences our diet and gut microbiome. HIT can manifest in many ways, ranging from digestive issues to skin reactions, cardiovascular concerns, even neurological challenges. Join this session where we’ll discuss HIT, the role of diamine oxidase, etiologies, symptoms, and management strategies for HIT. We’ll explore the role of diet, dietary supplements, and gut microbiome to support those suffering from HIT.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Define histamine intolerance.


  • Identify how DAO modulators influence our histamine tolerance/intolerance.


  • List diagnostic biomarkers and clinical indicators used for histamine intolerance.


  • Explain the relationship of histamine and the gut microbiome.


  • Identify dietary and supplemental strategies to support histamine intolerance.

About the Presenter: Natalie Ledesma, MS, RDN, CSO, CLT
Natalie Ledesma

With over 26 years of experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist, Natalie is a well-seasoned practitioner. A board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, Natalie is the founding dietitian for the nutrition program at the University of California, San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the clinical nutrition specialist at Smith Integrative Oncology in San Francisco. On a daily basis, she works with patients through her integrative & functional nutrition private practice. Natalie provides nutrition counseling and frequently presents nationally on various cancer and integrative health focused nutrition topics. She has taught college courses and cooking classes, and has been extensively involved in community outreach.

Natalie is highly regarded in her industry and is often sought out for her expert opinion. She has been interviewed by The New York Times, NBC, Fortune magazine, Cure magazine, MAMM magazine, Runner’s World, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
