Since she opened her private practice she specializes in teaching clients how to use Food as Medicine. She treats the whole person and looks for the root cause - not just management of symptoms. Her first approach to helping a client is "to do no harm". Diet and nutrition are not always the cause of a medical condition, but they ALWAYS affect the severity of any medical condition.
In addition, she is a Certified LEAP Therapist. This involves testing for food and chemical hypersensitivities and intolerances. She is affiliated with a company who has a patented mediator release test. This blood test is very specific for symtoms that may be related to migraine headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal related diseases and inflammatory associated health conditions. Once trigger foods are accurately identified, it can literally change the quality of life for people.
As a Registered & Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, Julie has ordering privileges with several labs and is able to help you make decisions about your individual specific treatment plan, based on your test results.

Julie coauthored books on "Nutrition Support in the Cancer Patient" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Glycemic Index Snacks". Her writings also included articles online for professional continuing education credit, as well as, peer reviewer for other healthcare professional articles.
Education
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Nutrition, including an internship and graduate work from Indiana University/Purdue University Medical School in Indianapolis. She is a Registered Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist and a Certified Leap Therapist.
