Navigating Menopause with Integrative Nutrition and Lifestyle Approaches
NAVIGATING MENOPAUSE WITH INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE APPROACHES
For approximately 85% of those who transition into menopause, it can be a challenging time of life both physically and mentally. Many individuals contend with a variety of symptoms including mood and memory changes, joint pain, sleep challenges, hot flashes and weight gain. Additionally, this time of life brings additional health concerns including increased risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, and cognitive impairment. However, diet and lifestyle can not only mitigate some of that risk but can also help to prevent and reduce the severity of symptoms. Nutrition professionals have an opportunity to support patients through this change with a variety of nutritional tips, lifestyle shifts and supplemental support. Participants of this presentation will come away with ideas on how to improve health outcomes and empower patients to embrace this chapter of life.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe common symptoms of menopause and associated risk factors.

  • Discuss how hormonal shifts during perimenopause/menopause may affect different physiological systems.

  • Implement practical dietary and lifestyle strategies for mitigating menopausal symptoms and potential associated health concerns.
