NUTRITIONAL MANAGEMENT OF ANEMIA IN END STAGE RENAL DISEASE
Anemia is a very common occurrence in end stage renal disease patients. Successfully managing this co-morbidity is not always possible with the use of medications alone. This webinar will discuss how to identify underlying causes of anemia in ESRD patients and provide nutritional recommendations for treatment.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
Identify common causes of anemia in ESRD.
Define criteria for diagnosed anemia in ESRD.
Identify nutrition measures to treat anemia.
Plan/prepare nutrition treatment goals for anemic patients/caregivers.
About the Presenter: KaToya Carter, MBA, RD, CDE, LD
A practicing dietitian in the Greater Houston Texas Area, KaToya Carter, MBA, RD, CDE, LD, has twelve years of experience in counseling and educating patients/clients of varying backgrounds and clinical circumstances. In addition, she has eleven years of experience in renal nutrition and seven years of experience as a certified diabetes educator.
She is an adjunct professor at Texas Southern University, was Director for ASP Centers for Diabetic Management, and has worked for Fresenius Medical Care, DaVita Kidney Care, and U.S. Renal Care.
Her continued focus is educating the adult learner, which encompasses colleagues, patients, and students. As an educator her aim is to aid colleagues in learning the most current and relevant topics and trends and how to incorporate them into daily practice settings.
