BECOMING A MEMBER OF DIETITIAN CENTRAL

Is there a fee to become a member?
No. There is no fee to join Dietitian Central and become a member.
How do I join Dietitian Central?
Click the Join link on the top right of the site, just below the main navigation menu. Then, fill out the member profile.

Please keep in mind that your information does not have to be made public. You can select not to reveal name, email address, etc. The only public information is your Username.

Once you click the Join button at the bottom of your profile page, an email is sent with an activation link. Click this link once to validate your membership. You will not be able to post to our boards and will not be counted as a Registered Member until you validate your membership.

How do I edit my profile?
1. First login.

2. Click the Profile link on the top right section of the site.

3. If you change your email address, you will be required to activate your account again. You will be unable to post and will not be counted as a Registered Member until you re-activate your account.

I forgot my Username and Password? What do I do?
Click the Login link on the top right section of the site.

You'll then see a link that reads, "Forgot Username or Password?" Click this link to receive your Username and Password sent to the email address we have for you in our database.

POSTING IN OUR FORUMS

What are your posting policies and guidelines?

How do I setup email alerts for threads?
There are two ways that you can set up email alerts on any given thread in our forums:

1. Whenever you post a new thread or reply to a message, you are given a Yes/No option on the message entry page.

2. When you are viewing the first level of a forum, you'll see a check box under the "Email Me" column for each thread. You can check each box for each thread for which you want to receive email alerts. Don't forget to click the Save Email Selections button at the bottom of the page.

How do I remove myself from email alerts for threads?
1. You can remove yourself from an email alert by going to the first level view on a forum and unchecking the box in the "Email Me" column for that thread.

2. Alternatively, you can click the Setup Email Alerts link on the top right corner of the page, then uncheck any threads from those listed.

Do I need to be a dietitian or health professional to post in these forums?
Even though this is a community for dietitians, we welcome comments or inquiries from the general public. There is a forum where you would want to post to, created specifically for the general public. Click here to go there now.

REGISTERING IN OUR DIETITIAN DIRECTORY

How is becoming a member of the Dietitian Directory different from becoming a member of the web site?
Registering for the Dietitian Directory is making yourself available to the public, specifically, to those searching in our Find a Dietitian search feature.

The Dietitian Directory involves filling out a different profile which is more detailed and includes uploading a photo image, entering your business address, selecting your areas of expertise, as well as defining other details about yourself.
How do I create a profile for the Dietitian Directory?
1. Select the Dietitian Directory option from the main menu, followed by the Join Our Dietitian Directory link.

2. From the Dietitian Directory Control Panel, click the "Create Your Profile" link and proceed to fill out your directory profile.

What is the approval process for becoming a member of the Dietitian Directory?
1. Once you have created a profile, we will review it and check your RD certification number provided.

2. When your RD certification number has been verified, you'll be sent an email to let you know that your directory profile is now available in our Find a Dietitian search feature.

How do I edit my directory profile?
1. Select the Dietitian Directory option from the main menu, followed by the Edit Your Dietitian Profile link.

2. From the Dietitian Directory Control Panel, you'll be able to edit or simply view your directory profile.

How do I remove my profile from the directory listing?
1. Select the Dietitian Directory option from the main menu, followed by the Edit Your Dietitian Profile link.

2. From the Dietitian Directory Control Panel, you'll see the status of your directory profile. You'll be able to check a radio button to enable or disable its showing on the site.


EXPERTS CORNER

What is Experts Corner?
Experts Corner is where members of our panel get to respond to questions posed by other members of the site. It differs from our forums in that a question is posed specifically to a panel member who then has up to 10 days to respond.

Do you have to be a dietitian to ask a question in Experts Corner?
No. Any member from any group including the general public can ask questions to our panel of experts.
