Where Medical Nutrition Therapy, Intuitive Eating, and Weight Neutrality Collide
WHERE MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY, INTUITIVE EATING, AND WEIGHT NEUTRALITY COLLIDE
Have you ever wondered how you can integrate Intuitive Eating and a weight neutral approach within your current role as a dietitian? Maybe you work within a facility that is weight centric and are feeling ready to transition into more of a non-diet approach but feel unsure of how to start applying Intuitive Eating and weight neutral principles into your practice. This session addresses first and foremost, the importance of a patient-centered approach to nutrition. Participants will learn how principles of Intuitive Eating can be applied to a clinical nutrition setting and how to apply the principle of Gentle Nutrition and reduce the likelihood of triggering a scarcity mindset that so often causes our clients to not follow through with nutrition recommendations.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe the importance of a patient-centered approach in nutrition counseling to optimize health for all individuals.

  • Identify how to promote and utilize a weight neutral approach within a weight centric system.

  • Examine strategies for incorporating Intuitive Eating principles into a clinical nutrition setting.
