Using Post Prandial Blood Sugar Management Techniques
USING POST PRANDIAL BLOOD SUGAR MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES TO MINIMIZE HEARING LOSS AND OTHER SMALL VESSEL COMPLICATIONS
This presentation will focus on the impact of prolonged hyperglycemia on hearing loss, balance issues and depression. We'll specifically talk about the importance of setting up appropriate care team infrastructure to refer and treat these complications. Presenters will review the appropriate assessment techniques, what happens after a referral is made and the impact of untreated hearing loss on the person with diabetes. There will then be a focus on how to decrease prolonged hyperglycemia by focusing on managing post meal blood sugars.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Apply skills for confident conversations and assessment of hearing loss.

  • Understand the effect of prolonged hyperglycemia and it's impact on hearing loss.

  • Review recommendations to decrease post prandial blood glucose and improve A1C outcomes.
