Men With or at High Risk for Prostate Cancer
OPTIMIZING NUTRITION IN MEN WITH OR AT HIGH RISK OF DEVELOPING PROSTATE CANCER
Prostate cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosis in the country, accounting for just under 10% of all cancer diagnosis in the US and affecting 1 in 9 men. Yet, around the world there are populations that are affected far less than the US - places like Japan, India and Mediterranean regions. These geographic areas are also known for their nutrient rich plant based diet. Available research confirms that lifestyle can make a difference. This webinar will review evidence based interventions including diet, supplements and lifestyle (sleep, stress, exercise) as well as monitoring, evaluation and compliance among patients.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Review the epidemiology of prostate cancer with a focus on modifiable risk factors.


  • Discuss dietary patterns and lifestyle factors strongly associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer in general and progression of prostate cancer in those already diagnosed.


  • Identify current evidence supporting the therapeutic use of dietary interventions including dietary patterns, foods and supplements including quantity, frequency and contraindications.


  • Review challenges in working with patients with prostate cancer and strategies for successful implementation of recommendations.


  • Identify patient and clinician resources for further education.

Lindsay Malone

Lindsay Malone is registered dietitian and certified specialist in oncology. Lindsay holds a Bachelors of Science degree is Business Administration for Xavier University and Masters degree in Public Health Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University. She currently practices at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine and is owner of Lindsay Malone Consulting, where she partners with patients, caregivers and organizations dedicated to cancer prevention and survivorship. In this capacity she works to share her nutrition knowledge as a writer, editor, public speaker and educator. Lindsay's passion for nutrition and wellness is rooted in her belief that food truly is the best medicine.
