The PCOS and Weight Connection
THE PCOS AND WEIGHT CONNECTION
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that is the leading cause of anovulatory infertility and a risk factor for long-term health complications. It is estimated that 5-10% of women worldwide have PCOS and, traditionally, nutrition therapy and weight loss are considered first-line treatment. Obesity is a common finding in women with PCOS and at least half of women with this condition are reported to be overweight or obese.
