BENEFITS OF PLANT-BASED EATING IN CHRONIC ILLNESS
This webinar will focus on how plant-based diets can positively impact many different chronic illnesses, including but not limited to, CVD, DM, CKD, etc. The participant will learn best practices on how to educate clients on a myriad of plant-based strategies to stave off or manage certain disease states.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify diseases that may be managed by a plant-based dietary approach.


  • Explain how eating a plant-based diet can impact common chronic disease.


  • Understand how foods and eating patterns specifically address certain disease states.


  • Identify the RDN's role in preventing certain chronic diseases using a plant-based diet approach.


  • Discuss how plant-based diets may prevent certain chronic diseases.

Abby Gilbert

Abby Gilbert, MS, RDN, has been a dietitian for over 15 years. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Tennessee State University. She has practiced dietetics in 4 states, including Tennessee, Louisiana, Washington, and Virginia. She has experience in a clinical/hospital setting, and also with Long Term Care and consulting, renal/dialysis, dialysis center management, and wellness/gym consulting. She specializes in renal nutrition but loves learning about all areas of nutrition. She is a part of the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a wife, mother, and enjoys mission trips and being out in nature.
