DECONSTRUCTING COMMON BODY IMAGE BELIEFS AMONG DIETITIANS
What do you think of when you hear the words "body image"? Maybe body positivity or acceptance come to mind, or you picture someone happily staring at their reflection in the mirror. However, body image encompasses much more! This course will cover what body image entails, the role of racism and the patriarchy, the truth behind common misconceptions, and resources to learn more so you are able to effectively counsel clients.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Recall the definition of body image.


  • Discuss the roles of racism and the patriarchy in body image and the body positivity movement.


  • State the truth behind common body image beliefs.


  • Demonstrate knowledge retention by correctly answering case study questions.


  • Identify resources for learning more about body image to effectively counsel clients.
