INTEGRATING AROMATHERAPY INTO YOUR NUTRITION PRACTICE
Aromatherapy, the use of plant extracts harvested from plants, trees and herbs, may be used quite effectively to increase overall health status and achieve wellness goals. With more clients interested in holistic options as part of their nutrition plan, it's important for practitioners to know the basics of aromatherapy. Research supports the use of essential oils to help address a variety of emotional challenges that create additional barriers to achieving nutrition success. This course provides an overview as to the clinical relevance of safely and effectively integrating aromatherapy into your practice.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
Understand the history of aromatherapy and what essential oils are.
Obtain an understanding of how essential oils are used today as complimentary medicine and therapy.
Understand the importance of sourcing and research to support usage.
Describe how to use essential oils safely and integrate them as part of the care plan.
Identify areas where essential oils have been vastly studies and can complement specific nutrition conditions.
Amanda Liptak is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and online coach with a concentration in integrative & holistic nutrition. She is the owner of Nutrientrichlife.org, an online resource for nutrition, fitness and lifestyle. Amanda’s devoted to teaching whole food nutrition that is based on each client’s needs rather than advocating for a one-size-fits-all approach. She believes that by helping her clients to realize that a positive relationship with food is possible, they will see that a 'restrictive' diet isn’t necessary. As a certified fitness instructor for several years, Amanda’s able to connect the dots between exercise and nutrition and has successfully used her fitness education to help her clients properly align their lifestyle programs.
In 2015, Amanda began to realize the role that essential oils play in managing lifestyle, especially addressing the mind, body connection over diet and mindful eating habits. She counsels clients on how to safely and effectively use aromatherapy to complement their nutrition therapy. Amanda has a B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Akron, holds an advanced certification in Adult Weight Management and is a Clinically Certified Aromatherapy Practitioner. She loves a good cup of “JO,” cookies and pumpkin; best enjoyed when altogether! Amanda lives outside of Cleveland with her husband, son and Labradoodle Bella.
