A DIETITIAN’S GUIDE TO ASSESSING AND TREATING FATIGUE
Between 836,000 and 2.5 million Americans have been estimated to have Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), while many more struggle with low energy which negatively impacts their health-related quality of life. Learn how to more effectively support your clients struggling with fatigue during this comprehensive two-hour presentation. Resources for assessing & addressing fatigue through an integrative nutrition framework will be presented with an emphasis on mitochondrial function, the role of oxidative stress in fatigue & the roles of specific nutrients in maintenance of healthy energy levels.
Upon successful completion of this two-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Establish a framework for assessing causes of fatigue.


  • Identify biological factors implicated in fatigue syndromes.


  • Describe the impact of dietary patterns on oxidative stress markers.


  • Appreciate the emerging role of the microbiome in fatigue syndromes.


  • Describe risk factors and symptoms for deficiences of nutrients involved in fatigue.


  • Summarize the role of adaptogens in addressing stress-related fatigue.

Sarah Ferreira is a Registered Dietitian, Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner & Certified Health and Wellness Coach. She is the owner of Mindfully Nourished Solutions, where she uses a whole-person, whole-food based approach to explore the impact of nutrition on energy, mood, thyroid, cognition & gastrointestinal health. Her individualized approach integrates an assessment of nutritional, genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors into a collaborative nutrition care plan using cutting-edge research designed to facilitate meaningful and restorative changes based around client goals and priorities. Sarah received her BS in Nutrition Science with a minor in Psychology through Russell Sage College and earned a Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Management and a Master of Public Health in Public Health Practice.
