UPDATE ON INFANT NUTRITION: NEW PRACTICES FOR STARTING SOLID FOODS
This webinar focuses on the feeding guidelines of infants and toddlers aged 6 months to 24 months. Over the past few years there have been significant changes to the recommendations on how to start an infant on solid food. The biggest changes have occurred in the areas of timing, allergies, and style of feeding. This webinar will give you the most up to date information in these areas, in addition to nutritional needs for children of this age, as well as simple meal planning tips for your patients/clients with young children.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Summarize when an infant should start on solid foods based on age and readiness signals.


  • Identify the 8 allergenic foods and how to introduce them to an infant.


  • List 5 key nutrients for infants and toddlers.


  • Describe nutritional needs, growth parameters, and serving sizes for each stage: 5-6 months, 7-8 months, 9-11 months, 12-17 months, and 18-24 months.

Natalie Weiss

Natalie Weiss, RD, LDN is a registered dietitian specializing in whole food nutrition consultation for women's health issues. Before starting her private practice, Natalie worked as a clinical dietitian in several Chicago area hospitals, and as an outpatient dietitian at an integrative fertility clinic. Natalie received her BS in nutrition from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

She is the co-author of Homemade Baby and Toddler Food and the author of Eating For Breast Cancer Prevention. She lives in the Chicago suburbs with her two daughters.
