LIFE AFTER GLP-1S: NUTRITION STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT LONG-TERM METABOLIC HEALTH
As more clients turn to GLP-1 medications for weight loss, registered dietitians are now faced with a critical challenge—helping them transition off these medications if needed without regaining the weight or losing progress. This webinar explores what a successful "GLP-1 exit plan" entails from a nutritional and behavioral perspective. Attendees will learn evidence-based strategies to support patients through the transition, including how to establish sustainable eating patterns, preserve muscle mass, and maintain motivation in the long term.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the key nutritional priorities to support clients transitioning off GLP-1 medications, including strategies to maintain satiety, prevent overeating, and stabilize appetite as medication effects diminish.
- Apply evidence-based approaches to preserve lean mass during and after GLP-1 discontinuation through protein-focused meal planning, resistance training integration, and targeted micronutrient considerations.
- Develop practical counseling strategies that help clients build sustainable eating patterns, strengthen behavioral skills, and maintain motivation to preserve metabolic health long after stopping GLP-1 therapy.
