HELP OR HYPE? DEMYSTIFYING SPORTS SUPPLEMENTS
It is reported that between 40-100% of athletes use supplements, yet only 32% of them get their information from a registered dietitian. The world of sports supplements is rife with misinformation and questionable products. Athletes looking to get an edge on the competition often turn to supplementation. Yet only a few are considered safe, effective, and evidence-based.

Learn which ones are helpful, which ones are hype, and the evidence behind them. Learn dosing, forms, and other considerations. Become knowledgeable in how to navigate decision-making around supplementation with your athletes and active clients.

Marisa Michael

Marisa Michael, MSc, RDN, CSSD, is a registered dietitian since 2002 and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She has a master's degree in sports nutrition from the University of Stirling and holds the IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition. She also holds numerous fitness certifications. She has published original research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, written numerous articles for athlete publications, and is the author of Nutrition for Climbers: Fuel for the Send. Marisa also serves on the USA Climbing Medical Committee. She owns a private practice in the USA, specializing in sports nutrition and disordered eating.
