Ethics in Dietetics
ETHICS IN DIETETICS
UPDATED FOR 2023

In this webinar, we will review the most current Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics which is released by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) in conjunction with its credentialing agency, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). The course will allow you to consider your own ethical approach to professional competence and learn how to best self-monitor your progress.

We'll also review the 4 main Principles and 32 Standards, commonly used terms, and how those relate to AND's values. Discussion will focus on how to apply the Code of Ethics in the workplace and the process and procedure for how to handle ethical complaints. Additionally, we'll go through a few scenarios to discuss how to ethically interact with clients!

This session meets the RD requirement for a unit of "ETHICS" during a 5 year renewal period.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Understand ethics as it pertains to dietetics.

  • Describe the principles and standards of the profession.

  • Review the process for consideration of the issues.

Note: The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (Academy) and Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) are not responsible for the provider’s interpretation of the Academy/CDR Code of Ethics for the Nutrition and Dietetics Profession or its enforcement as it relates to the scenarios and content presented in this activity.
