NUTRITIONAL BIOCHEMISTRY REVIEW: REGULATING ENERGY HOMEOSTASIS
This webinar is perfect for the Registered Dietitian who has been away from the classroom for a while and wants to "brush up" on Nutritional Biochemistry, SPECIFICALLY THE REGULATION OF ENERGY HOMEOSTASIS. It’s also a great review for RD-eligible participants who would like to review for their upcoming RD exam. The body is constantly focused on maintaining ENERGY HOMEOSTASIS through the processes of glycolysis, glycogenesis, gluconeogenesis, glycogenolysis, and the TCA cycle. Participants will walk through these processes and then explore how the body reacts in active, fed, and starvation states and review how the body uses the macronutrients for fuel and under what circumstances.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
- Describe how energy is created in the body, both aerobically and anaerobically.
- Describe how the body maintains energy homeostasis.
- Explain how the macronutrients are used for energy and under what conditions.
- Explain the importance of energy homeostasis in regulating our body functions.
