LATEST GUIDELINES FOR GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS
During this webinar, we will review the pathophysiology of insulin resistance during pregnancy, possible complications, and discuss the latest diagnostic criteria and blood glucose goals for the best pregnancy outcomes for the mother and baby. You will be updated with the most recent ADA Gestational Diabetes Guidelines including the latest medical nutrition therapy recommendations. When medical nutrition therapy and activity are not enough to get blood glucose into proper ranges, we will review the evidence regarding medications. Throughout this webinar, we will look at recent research studies and their results in addition to examples of case studies. Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • State at least two recommendations from the most current American Diabetes Association Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) Guidelines.


  • Describe insulin resistance changes during pregnancy, possible complications, and know the latest diagnostic criteria and goals for blood glucose levels with clients.


  • Provide medical nutrition therapy with updated nutrition requirements for GDM.


  • List appropriate medications used for GDM.
