LAB REVIEW FOR RENAL DIALYSIS PATIENTS

This presentation will provide an in-depth look at each parameter and how to educate patients using the renal diet. Focus will be on achieving optimal outcomes for these parameters using the renal diet and common dialysis medications. The participants can expect to learn about Chronic Kidney Disease and the most common lab parameters used to educate dialysis patients.

Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:

Interpret lab values pertaining to nutrition for dialysis patients.

Better educate patients on specific lab parameters.

Provide nutrition education focused on achieving and/or maintaining appropriate labs outcomes for dialysis patients.

Educate renal / dialysis patients on overall better eating habits, cooking methods, grocery shopping skills.

About the Presenter: Abby Gilbert, MS, RDN

Abby Gilbert, MS, RDN, has been a dietitian for over 15 years. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Tennessee State University. She has practiced dietetics in 4 states, including Tennessee, Louisiana, Washington, and Virginia. She has experience in a clinical/hospital setting, and also with Long Term Care and consulting, renal/dialysis, dialysis center management, and wellness/gym consulting. She specializes in renal nutrition but loves learning about all areas of nutrition. She is a part of the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a wife, mother, and enjoys mission trips and being out in nature.
