LOSING THE BATTLE OF WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: IMPLEMENTING PHARMACOTHERAPY WITH YOUR PATIENTS
Trying to find other options for your patients who are struggling to lose weight?

"I'm so tired of losing weight. I have done this so many times. I know how to count calories. I know how to log my food. I just can't seem to make this work. I'm so discouraged."

Does this sound familiar? How many patients have come to you, frustrated, because they are struggling with the weight reduction roller coaster? You can't keep saying "work harder." So what else can you do to help?

Have you heard about the latest FDA approved medications for weight reduction and have been wondering what these do or if they are safe? Join us to find out what tools you can implement in your practice to help increase patient motivation and see weight changes. In this webinar, we will discuss appetite regulation, the use of adjunct pharmacotherapy and the newest trends in bariatric surgery, which are supported by numerous professional organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the American Society of Health Pharmacists (ASHP).

You will leave this session with a better understanding of the FDA approved weight reduction medications, insurance coverage for these medications and how they work in the body to promote weight change. You will also learn about the newest surgical options available to your patients and who is eligible for these.
Upon successful completion of this two-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify and discuss FDA approved medications for use in the overweight/obese populations.

  • Understand the rationale for using anti-obesity medications.

  • Contraindications for the use of pharmacotherapy.

  • Identify and understand the latest trends in bariatric surgery including the gastric balloon, gastric overstitch and the implantable device, the Aspire Assist.

  • Understand how dietary intake for these new bariatric techniques differ from standard surgical treatments.
