THE OBESITY EPIDEMIC: THE EBT REWIRING TOOL KIT FOR STRESS EATING AND LASTING WEIGHT LOSS
As we launch the new year, overweight and obesity have never been higher in the United States. Ultimately, obesity is a brain condition--circuits in the brain activate the Stress Overload Triangle (stress/reward/appetite centers) that cause biochemical cascades that cause overeating and weight regain. This webinar is a one-hour introduction to Emotional Brain Training (EBT), an evidence-based method for stress resilience and obesity treatment that Dr. Mellin has presented at FNCE, past Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) meetings, and state dietetic association meetings. This presentation will help you understand how dietitians are using this neuroscience-based method in their nutrition practice. It will also help you evaluate your interest in becoming a Certified EBT Provider and participating in an upcoming two-day webinar (January 28 and February 4th) for dietitians to be Certified EBT Providers (Stress Eating Emphasis), a program which is provided through Dietitian Central.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
- Describe a brain based root cause of overeating, and weight regain based on brain science.
- Differentiate the two types of neural circuits: reactive and resilient.
- Differentiate a stress resilient emotion from a stress reactive emotion.
- Apply concepts of brain circuitry to developing a treatment plan for an obesity case study.
