Macronutrient Tracking for Weight Loss
MACRONUTRIENT TRACKING FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Macro tracking is a science-based tool that can help your most difficult patient lose weight. Research shows that daily tracking of foods and beverages is a habit commonly shared by those who successfully lose weight and keep it off. Tracking foods with a focus on specific macronutrient targets considers not only total energy but also the breakdown of percentage of calories from protein, carbs and fats. Macro tracking is also known as flexible dieting as it allows for indulgences that fit within the macro targets. This training will help you understand the science behind macro tracking for weight loss and the simple step by step process for implementing this approach with your patient or client population.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Define macro (macronutrient) tracking.

  • Identify populations and personality types that may benefit from tracking macros.

  • Review the evidence supporting the use and benefits of macro tracking.

  • Outline a step by step approach for calculating macros for individuals.

  • Highlight compliance strategies and tools for patient/client success.

  • Identify additional lifestyle factors that contribute to obesity including sleep, stress and exercise.
