Using Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) to Optimize Health
USING CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORS (CGM) TO OPTIMIZE HEALTH
Until recently Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM's) were used exclusively for diabetics. But CGM's are becoming more mainstream in the health and fitness community. These monitoring devices are advertised to improve energy levels and performance, slow aging, reduce oxidative damage and finally trim stubborn belly fat. But what does the research say? And how do you even get started? This webinar will review the science behind CGMs, who may benefit and how to get started using this new monitoring technology with patients and clients.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify and define continuous glucose monitor (CGM).

  • Understand populations, in addition to diabetics, who may benefit from continuous glucose monitoring.

  • Review the evidence supporting the use and benefits of CGMs in diabetic and non-diabetic populations.

  • Outline a framework for utilizing CGMs with clients/patients.

  • Identify potential pitfalls of using CGMs.

  • Highlight compliance strategies and tools for patient/client success.

FOR CDCESs: This Course Qualifies for CE Credit!

To satisfy the requirement for renewal of certification according to the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE, www.cbdce.org), courses must relate to diabetes and be part of the list of recognized providers of the CBDCE. The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is listed as an CBDCE recognized provider. Because Dietitian Central has been granted accreditation by the CDR, it therefore meets the criteria as an approved provider of CEs for CDCESs by the CBDCE. The CBDCE does not directly approve continuing education for any specific webinar or self study course.
