BARIATRIC SURGERY FEARS: THE DIETITIAN'S ROLE IN REASSURING AND EDUCATING PRE-OP PATIENTS
As the prevalence of bariatric surgery for weight loss continues to grow, so does the amount of conflicting information available online. The misinformation can easily lead to fear and anxiety for pre-op patients. Dietitians have an integral role in separating fact from fiction and educating patients on realistic expectations after surgery. This webinar will provide you with the most common fears associated with bariatric surgery as reported by pre-op patients. By the end of the course, you will be equipped with a plan to prepare patients accordingly as they begin their journey toward surgery.

Cassandra Golden

Cassandra Golden Sampson MS, RD, LDN, MIEP is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Nutritionist, and a Mindful & Instinctive Eating PractitionerTM. After recovering from a personal battle with binge eating disorder, Cassandra has dedicated her career to teaching the art of mindful and instinctive eating. Cassandra owns a completely telehealth-based private practice offering one-on-one nutrition counseling, group classes and online courses.

Since 2013, Cassandra has been partnering with clients on their personal journeys toward making peace with food. Cassandra meets patients at the intersection between bariatric surgery and intuitive eating to create an onramp for mindful and instinctive eating, after decades of dieting. All nutrition services are centered around the ultimate goal of finding food peace and body neutrality after bariatric surgery.

Cassandra holds a Master’s Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Florida. Cassandra has recently published “The Intuitive Eating Journal: 30 Mindful and Instinctive Thoughts to Start Your Day”, now available on Amazon. Outside of her private practice, Cassandra loves teaching Zumba (for 11+ years!) and savoring time with her new baby, Golden Skye.
