NUTRITION GUIDELINES FOR PREGNANCY POST BARIATRIC SURGERY
The number of bariatric surgeries performed in the United States has risen exponentially. Most pregnancies after bariatric surgery have successful outcomes with decreased occurrences of gestational diabetes, hypertension and lower birth weight. Adherence to nutrition guidelines and supplementation in the event of deficiencies are critical in the provision of prenatal care to this population. Given that majority of the patients in this group are females and of reproductive age, it is important for clinicians who manage women's health issues be aware of the surgery, its long term goals and the potential effect on future pregnancies. This webinar will help you understand the different types of bariatric surgeries. It will highlight what to expect in terms of nutrition in pregnancy after bariatric surgery and how to successfully manage it.

She is very committed to her profession and is very passionate about Diabetes. She is also a Certified Diabetes Technology Clinician and Insulin Pump Trainer. She is a nationwide speaker, Board of Director for Sweet Success Express Program (SSEP), Reviewer for California Diabetes and Pregnancy Program (CDAPP) as well as DPP Lifestyle Coach. She has published book geared towards South Asians and has plans to publish more in the near future. She is also a Reviewer/Editor for many articles and guidelines of care. She is also a Fitness Instructor and enjoys incorporating fitness element into her counseling sessions with patients.

She enjoys working with people and to guide them to make better lifestyle choices. She believes that a successful healthcare provider is one who can be a good listener and to help people to help themselves to make better decisions. In her spare time, Geetha enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with family and conducting fitness classes.
