HOT TOPICS IN DIABETES RESEARCH
The latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveal an eye-opening number: 24 million Americans are now living with diabetes -- 18 million have been diagnosed and 6 million have diabetes but they haven't yet been diagnosed. Statistics show that 90-95 percent of people with diabetes have type 2. For decades, scientists have been working to understand not only the cause of diabetes but why the disease is increasing at an alarming rate.

Research studies and clinical trials are going on across the United States and around the world, sparking awareness, debate, and hope towards finding a cure for this disease. Until that time, research is continually finding trends in healthcare, medication and lifestyle changes to better understand this disease and help our patients treat it - all while living a full and happy life.

In this one hour webinar, find out about some of the latest trends and significant advances in diabetes research, treatment, and care. We will take a deeper look into the latest medications, potential triggers and nutrition and lifestyle therapies.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Understand and discuss the timely and significant advances in basic science and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.

  • Provide patient recommendations based on the newest research with regards to medication, self-monitoring, and diet.

  • Understand and discuss specific research in diet and lifestyle in relation or potential causes and treatment for diabetes.

  • Discuss nontraditional therapies for diabetes management including weight loss medications and bariatric surgery for glucose control.

FOR CDCESs: This Course Qualifies for CE Credit!
