In this webinar, participants will learn the latest research on adult food allergies: different types, their symptoms, and the most commonly implicated foods. Nutritional management from an eating competence perspective will be discussed to minimize risk of diet inadequacies and to strategize how to increase food acceptance.

About the Presenters

Alexia Beauregard, MS, RD, CSP, LD
Alexia Beauregard

Alexia Beauregard, MS, RD, CSP, LD, received her Master's degree in human nutrition from Winthrop University. She knew when she started her graduate program that she wanted to sub-specialize in food allergy. Her self-directed, independent study in graduate school culminated in the thesis, "Food Hypersensitivity: Mechanisms, Management, and Treatment".

She is the dietitian for Gastroenterology Associates, PA, in Greenville, SC and also serves as a faculty member of the Ellyn Satter Institute where she concentrates on the eating and feeding disturbances that can be a consequence of food allergy. She serves on committees for several professional organizations to promote awareness and education of food allergy among healthcare professionals. Her goal as a food allergy specialist dietitian is to improve quality of life and bring the joy back to eating.


Peggy Crum, MA, RD
Peggy Crum

Peggy Crum, MA, RD, is a registered dietitian with a master's degree in health and risk communication. Her early career was in pediatrics, first at St. Paul Children's Hospital, then in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University where she guided families of children with special needs with the help of Satter's feeding dynamics model. Currently Peggy is a nutritionist for MSU's health promotion and student health education programs where Satter's eating competence model informs her writing, program development, and counseling. Peggy trained with Ellyn Satter in Treating the Dieting Casualty in 2007 offering How To Eat to individuals and groups since then.
