MNT and DSMT Reimbursement
This jammed-packed and dynamic presentation is exactly what RDNs and diabetes educators have been looking for, and what they need to pocket those elusive Medicare and private payer Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Diabetes Self-Management Education/Training (DSME/T) dollars! Medicare's latest coverage guidelines are outlined, including those related to referrals, lab eligibility, telehealth, procedure codes, ICD-10 diagnosis codes (lots of must-know changes here, including new invalid codes) for accurate claims processing. Also reviewed are the extra billing rules in FQHCs, RHCs and pharmacies and the appropriate documentation to meet CMS' and other regulatory agencies' requirements.
Upon successful completion of this 2-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe the beneficiary eligibility criteria for Medicare DSME/T and diabetes MNT.

  • List 3 of the coverage guidelines for Medicare MNT and DSME/T telehealth services.

  • Name the MNT and DSME/T procedure codes required by Medicare on claims.

  • List at least 5 of the items on the MASTER CHECKLIST OF WAYS TO SUSTAIN DSME/T AND MNT PROGRAMS.

FOR CDEs: This Course Qualifies for CE Credit!

To satisfy the requirement for renewal of certification according to the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE,, courses must relate to diabetes and be part of the list of recognized providers of the NCBDE. The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is listed as an NCBDE recognized provider. Because Dietitian Central has been granted accreditation by the CDR, it therefore meets the criteria as an approved provider of CEs for CDEs by the NCBDE. The NCBDE does not directly approve continuing education for any specific webinar or self study course.
