Gut Microbiome
THE HEALTHY GUT: UNDERSTANDING THE GUT MICROBIOME AND ITS IMPACT ON HEALTH
The trillions of microorganisms that live inside of our gut microbiome has become the subject of extensive research in recent years. Not only does the bacteria in our gut control multiple physiological processes throughout our body, this ecosystem is dynamic and constantly changing in response to its environment. This bacteria may also be a key in improving our overall health and reducing risk of developing chronic health disease. In this webinar, we will explore the current research surrounding the gut microbiome. You will learn what constitutes a healthy gut microbiota, the gut microbiome throughout the lifespan and the role of the gut microbiota in health and chronic health diseases including inflammatory disease, chronic gastrointestinal disease, cardiometablic health, obesity and type 2 diabetes. You will also learn what dietary changes can improve the gut microbiome in an effort to reduce the risk of developing these diseases.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify the role of the gut microbiome and overall health.

  • Identify factors that influence the gut microbiome through the lifespan (infancy to older adults.
