Adding Fitness Services to your Nutrition Practice
Join us for this webinar where we'll discuss the idea of adding fitness services to your nutrition practice, and integrating both worlds to help your clients achieve greater results. Whether you're interested in dabbling in the fitness world yourself as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor, or you'd rather hire someone else to perform these services, we'll talk about how to make it all work. As an RD with over a decade of experience in the fitness industry, Laura Acosta MS RDN CSSD LD/N offers a unique perspective and valuable insight into the integration of fitness services into an existing nutrition practice.
Upon successful completion of this 1.5 hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Name several reasons why fitness services may be a valuable addition to your nutrition practice.

  • Describe the type(s) of fitness services that may be most appropriate and feasible for your practice.

  • Identify the pros and cons of providing the services yourself vs. hiring someone else.

  • Recognize the most reputable organizations from whom to obtain a fitness certification, and briefly describe the process of becoming certified as a personal trainer, and as a group exercise instructor.

  • Determine whether to classify a new hire as an employee or an independent contractor.

  • Identify the types of liability insurance coverage necessary to offer fitness services.

  • Describe the general process for performing health screenings, obtaining physicians' clearances (when necessary), and performing initial fitness assessments for your patients.

  • Come away with several ready-to-use forms (such as waiver/consent, physicians clearance, and fitness assessment data forms) to customize and adapt for your practice.
