Beyond Mediterranean: Harnessing the Power of the Green Mediterranean Diet
BEYOND MEDITERRANEAN: HARNESSING THE POWER OF THE GREEN MEDITERRANEAN DIET
Emerging research has identified the Green Mediterranean Diet as a powerful nutritional approach that surpasses the metabolic health benefits of the traditional Mediterranean Diet. Particularly noteworthy are its pronounced effects on reducing visceral body fat, treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and enhancing overall metabolic wellness. Unique components like daily walnuts, a Mankai duckweed shake, and regular consumption of green tea combined with daily physical activity elevate its health-promoting potential. One notable and often overlooked difference compared to the traditional Mediterranean Diet is that the Green Mediterranean Diet is significantly lower in carbohydrates, a feature seldom highlighted by popular media outlets covering this diet.

This presentation will equip dietitians with critical insights into this innovative dietary pattern, clearly outline its protocol based on recent clinical studies, and offer practical strategies for integration into patient care.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe the fundamental components and unique additions of the Green Mediterranean Diet compared to the traditional Mediterranean Diet.

  • Summarize the latest clinical evidence highlighting the diet's effectiveness in improving metabolic health, reducing visceral fat, and treating fatty liver disease.

  • Identify patient populations who could benefit most significantly from implementing the Green Mediterranean Diet.

  • Implement a practical, research-based protocol that includes specific dietary targets and structured physical activity.
