NANCY CLARK, MS, RD, CSSD Nancy Clark, an internationally respected sports nutritionist and Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), specializes in nutrition for exercise, wellness, weight management, and the resolution of eating disorders. Her clients have included the spectrum from Olympians and members of the Boston and Celtics to ordinary mortals—fitness exercisers, student athletes, and weekend warriors. She is team Nutriitonist for the Boston Red Sox. Her private practice is in the Boston-area (Newton, MA). Nancy completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition from Simmons College in Boston, her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and her graduate degree in nutrition with a focus on exercise physiology from Boston University. She is a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. Among other honors, she has received the Simmons College Distinguished Alumna Award, and from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association), the Sports and Cardiovasular Nutritionists’ Achievement Award and the Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur Award. Nancy’s nutrition advice and photo have even been the back of the Wheaties’ box! Nancy writes a monthly nutrition column called The Athlete's Kitchen, which appears regularly in over 150 sports and health publications and websites. Her best selling Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook is a valued reference, having sold more than 550,000 copies. It was recently released in a new 2014 Fifth Edition. This popular resource offers both the scientific approach to eating for top performance, as well as the practical "how to" approach that includes specific menu ideas and food recommendations. Nancy Clark’s Food Guide for Marathoners: Tips for Everyday Champions (2010), Food Guide for New Runners: Getting It Right From the Start (2009), Cyclist’s Food Guide: Fueling for the Distance (2011) and Food Guide for Soccer: Tips from the Pros (2010; co-authored with Gloria Averbuch) are written from her passion for helping athletes win with good nutrition. The books are welcomed by participants in charity training programs such as the Leukemia Society’s Team in Training and the AIDS Ride; the information helps these aspiring athletes enjoy reaching their goals. Health and fitness are personal values for Nancy. She is a regular bicycle commuter and runner. She has completed several marathons, bicycled across America, and hiked in the Himalayas. Her newest sports are rowing (crew) and yoga. She lives in the Boston-area with her husband and has two children who are now working in the Boston area.
