Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietitian Nutritionist Bess Berger is dedicated to the overall wellness of each of her clients. As a dietitian with more than 15 years of experience working with people who have a variety of health issues and motivations, Bess believes that being a great dietitian means much more than just telling people what to eat, but it is about becoming their guide to better nutrition and overall wellness.
Serving Northern New Jersey and the Metro area, Bess works with a diverse population of men, women and children in her private practice, delivering nutritional guidance and treatment tailored to the specific needs of each client.
Some may need to lose weight, others may need to gain weight or maintain weight. Reasons may range from simply wanting to be healthier to having gastrointestinal issues or illnesses, such as diabetes or heart disease, as well as a host of other reasons. Some have relied on fad diets or pills and medications that didn't work. Many of her clients are women with metabolic syndrome or hormonal imbalances. Most every client wants to improve the quality of their life.
Bess seeks out the most appropriate and effective methods and approach to providing the best nutrition for each client. People often come to her feeling defeated, and they're intimidated by the idea of "eating healthy." Although she may give suggestions for diets and foods to eat, her overall approach is to encourage people to live their life as much as possible and learn how to make the right choices most of the time – they don't necessarily have to avoid eating out or discontinue many of the foods that add joy to their lives.
Bess takes a patient and caring approach to guiding her clients to good nutrition for them. Making progress, slow and steady, gradually moving them in the direction they need to go, working with them over time. She also concerns herself with their overall wellness. Often, she contacts other specialists to make sure the client is receiving well-rounded care.
She also promotes nutrition and wellness throughout the community, offering her expertise and speaking to groups for women, children, and families, and other groups.
Bess also keeps herself up to date on all the latest developments and research in her field. A member of the American Dietetic Association, she is an active in the organization's Practice Groups, particularly the ADA Practice Group Nutrition Education for the Public and ADA Practice Group Women's Health.
