Recently there has been some debate between caregivers over sodium restriction for patients in hospital with Heart Failure. Currently, we have a 2g sodium diet and a 3-4g sodium diet. Our caregivers have requested to place a 500mg sodium restriction for breakfast/lunch/dinner and a snack. Thoughts over more stringent restriction and ways to reduce readmission rates are occurring. However, with many of our CHF patients, the surgeries they undergo require a much greater protein & nutrient intake post operatively for at least 2 weeks & many are used to only eating one meal/don't like supplements etc. I am requesting opinion from other professionals and maybe insight on how other in patient hospitals track sodium limits with diet restrictions and food service delivery. Thank you for your time
