INTERMITTENT FASTING PART II - A SUMMARY OF THE RECENT HUMAN RESEARCH ON INTERMITTENT FASTING
This session is part II in a series beginning with Intermittent Fasting Part I: A Guide for Dietitians. In this presentation, dietitian and author Jean LaMantia will look at research published in 2020 since the writing her book Complete Intermittent Fasting. She will present results from research on IF and diabetes, weight loss, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other conditions. She will also highlight what to consider when reading research about intermittent fasting.

Note: While recommended, the webinar that is considered Part I of this series titled Intermittent Fasting Part I: A Guide for Dietitians is not a requirement for this webinar.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • State the difference between religious fasting and other forms of intermittent fasting and how that affects applicability of the research.


  • Describe at least three positive and negative outcomes of fasting.


  • Identify people for whom fasting is not recommended or has not been evaluated.
