YOGA THERAPY IN DIETETICS: CREDENTIALING, APPLICATIONS AND PRACTITIONERS
Advances in genetic and neurobiological science have illuminated the mechanism by which mind-body practices such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness support behavior change. The field of yoga therapy is expanding and professionalizing. This webinar will describe the mechanisms of yoga relevant to the nutrition practitioner, credentialing of the field of yoga therapy and how yoga therapy may fit within a dietetic scope of practice. Experiential examples of yoga breathing, and examples of how dietitians are using yoga within their nutrition practices will be described.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe credentialing of yoga and yoga therapy for dietitians as well as their own experience of these modalities.


  • Suggest possible mechanisms of action and list practical applications of yoga in dietetics.


  • Name dietitians integrating yoga therapy into nutrition practice, discuss how the field is evolving, and cite potential future opportunities.
