Change your environment, change your health: Research is clear that the food we see around us on a daily basis dramatically shapes the quality and quantity of our food choices, and most people greatly underestimate the impact it has on diet. The holidays are a particular minefield for mindless overeating. The webinar will review the most current research and best practices, and explore ways of preserving holiday traditions while employing easy, tangible, concrete and painless strategies to help reduce mindless eating triggers.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Describe the most current research on the ways external cues alter food consumption.


  • Provide 5 practical examples of how external cues lead to overeating.


  • Detail concrete solutions to common overeating pitfalls.


  • Identify at least 5 strategies clients can use to reduce holiday overindulgences.

About the Presenter: Cheryl Harris, MPH, RD

Cheryl Harris, MPH RD has been educating clients and health care professionals about gluten-related disorders for over a dozen years. She was recognized as one of the top nutritionists in the DC metro area by the Washingtonian and was selected as the “Emerging Dietetics Leader of the Year” for Virginia. She has presented widely on Celiac Disease and a gluten-free diet, and was honored to be chosen to teach for the upcoming AND Certificate of Training in Gluten-related disorders. Her articles on gluten-free living have appeared in Simply Gluten-free Magazine, Gluten-free Living, Today’s Dietitian, Gluten Intolerance Group Magazine, and more, and she has served as a content editor for the Dietitians in Gluten Intolerance since 2007.
