How Do I Pose a Question or a Comment?

You can pose a question or comment to any of our experts by first selecting the expert's section from the Expert's Corner submenu, then clicking that expert's "Post Question / Comment" button.

For example, to post a question for Dietitian expert Jane Doe, move your mouse over the Dietitian Experts option on the Expert's Corner submenu. Then, select the Jane Doe, MS, RD option from the menu choices provided. You'll see Jane Doe's picture and relevant information, such as bio and areas of expertise, displayed on the page. You'll also note a button "Post Question / Comment." Upon clicking this button, you'll be given the chance to select a category and enter your question or comment in the fields provided.

When you click the Submit Question button on the bottom of that page, you will be brought back to the Experts Corner page and you will see your question listed along with the rest. Additionally, upon submitting your question, an email is triggered and your expert, in this example, Jane, will receive your question immediately.

I'm Not a Health Care Professional, Can I Still Ask a Question?

Yes. You may join the site as a member of the General Public. Membership is free.

How Will I Know When My Question Has Been Answered?

As soon as an expert posts an answer to your question, it will be sent to you via email within seconds of its posting.

How Long Can I Expect to Wait for an Answer?

This, of course, depends on the expert. However, please keep in mind that experts are volunteering their time and expertise. All experts reserve the right to refuse to answer a question or remove the question entirely from the database if it is inappropriate or out of their line of expertise.

Note: Questions that remain unanswered for longer than 10 days may be removed at our discretion.

Am I Allowed a Follow-Up Response Once The Expert Answers My Question?

Yes. In fact, you are allowed a maximum of two responses after the expert has provided an answer to your original question.

This is the flow...

You post a question to one of our experts. The expert provides an answer.

From the Details page, you can either provide a final commentary and thus end the thread, or you can post a follow-up response and continue the thread.

When the expert receives your follow-up, he/she will provide a second response.

You will then get an opportunity to post a final entry to end the thread.

Please keep in mind that it is not mandatory to respond after receiving an answer to a question.
